Chapter Governance

Chapter Officers

The chapter officers are members of the board who have specific responsibilities defined by the national organization, the chapter bylaws, and the laws that govern non-profit organizations. The officers are elected annually by the extended board.  The 2010 officers are as follows:

• President: Deron Linkenheil
• Vice President: Alphonso Aguilar 
• Secretary: Lesley Pena
• Treasurer: David Burt

Board Members

Board members are elected to serve two year terms by the membership at large. 50% of the board is elected in the General Meeting we are required to hold in December of the entire membership for this purpose. Board members are term limited to two consecutive two-year terms, after which they must leave the board for one year before being eligible for reelection. Every January, the extended board, consisting of the incoming and outgoing board members, elect the officers. Board members are the only members who have a vote at the board meeting, with the exception of the President. The President only votes if his vote would either make a tie or break a tie. Any member can come to the board meeting, participate in discussion, make and second motions, but only the board can vote.

Subcomittee Chairpersons

Our subcommittees are where the work of our chapter is done. If you would like to volunteer to be on any of these committees, send an email to ithas2bulv@yahoo.com and say which committee or committee you would be willing to serve on, or contact the committee chairperson directly. Committee chairpersons do not need to be board members, but must report their activities at the monthly board meeting.

Membership at Large

The membership elects the board at the December general meeting. Also, the chapter bylaws can only be changed by a 2/3 majority vote of the members at the General Meeting, or a special meeting called for this purpose. The governing council does not have the authority to change the chapter bylaws. A meeting of the general membership to change the bylaws can be called by the board, or if the president receives a petition signed by 10 members of the eligible voting membership in good standing the president is obligated to call a meeting of the membership for this purpose.
